Two from Georgia killed when small plane crashes in Tuskegee

TUSKEGEE, Ala. - A man and woman from Georgia were killed when their single-engine plane crashed at Moton Airfield in Tuskegee.<br> <br> The plane crashed short of a runway Sunday about 8:45 a.m., police said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man, who was piloting the plane, died later in a local hospital.<br> <br> The victims were 49 years old and from Georgia, but their names were withheld Monday until relatives could be notified, police said.<br> <br> It was unclear why the small plane crashed about 50 yards from the runway after leaving an air show in Evergreen over the weekend, police said. Montgomery television station WSFA reported the pilot crashed after trying to avoid a plane on the runway.<br> <br> The National Transportation Safety Board was investigating.<br>
