Smyrna parks official charged with theft, forgery

SMYRNA - The superintendent for Smyrna City Parks was arrested Monday after being accused of using city funds and equipment for his private landscaping business. <br>

James L. Cook, 36, of Smyrna, was charged with theft by conversion, theft by deception and first-degree forgery. Officials said he has been fired from his position. <br>
<br>
Authorities began an investigation Sept. 4 after receiving tips from city employees that Cook was using city equipment and money for personal use. <br>
<br>
Cook was being held in Cobb County Jail on $50,000 bond.
