ATLANTA - A kitchen manager was shot and wounded during a robbery Tuesday at a Mexican restaurant in north Fulton County.

Kim Burke remained in serious condition at Northside Hospital, officials said early Wednesday.

Police said Burke was seriously wounded when a gunman entered Chevy's Fresh Mex on Northside Drive near Interstate 285. The robbery happened about 4 p.m. while customers were there.

The suspect walked into the restaurant carrying an umbrella and demanded money, police said. When the kitchen manager confronted him, the gunman shot Burke twice in the chest, according to officials.

The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash from the restaurant's safe before fleeing, said Fulton County police Lt. Darryl Halbert.

Police were questioning a man who was pulled over in Cobb County after the robbery but have not made any arrests.

Earlier this year, a fatal robbery happened across the street at Sidelines Sports Grille. Co-owner Barbara Kriewald was shot to death and a manager, Michael Kirby, was shot and paralyzed during that robbery.
