On Friday, the Lilburn school plays Norcross in a game that will take on added stature because the in-game highlights will be shown nationally on ESPN.
"That's pretty big potatoes for high school kids," Cecil Flowe, coach of the two-time defending state champions, said Tuesday. "We're excited. That's some pretty big-time stuff."
Parkview (6-0, 3-0 Region 8-AAAAA Div. A), which has won 36 games in a row, is ranked No. 1 in The Associated Press Class AAAAA rankings and No. 2 in various national polls.
AT&T Broadband Channel 33, which is televising the Parkview-Norcross game in the Atlanta area, will provide ESPN with feeds during the network's coverage of Fresno State at Boise State.
"We're fortunate enough to have a good team, and we're playing a very good team," Blue Devils athletic director Mike Embry said. "We made an announcement at school this morning, and the buzz is going really good around here right now."
