Tractor-trailer wreck causes early morning traffic jam

MARIETTA - A cattle truck went out of control and slid across a crowded interstate Wednesday morning, killing the driver and several cows and creating an enormous traffic jam that had morning commuters still stuck at lunchtime. <br> <br> The driver crashed into the median wall of Interstate 75 north of Atlanta for what Marietta police spokesman Brian Marshall said was some unknow reason. The trailer separated from the cab and slid on its side about 50 yards down the interstate. <br> <br> Police did not immediately release the victim&#39;s name. The truck had a Kentucky license plate. <br> <br> Several cows were killed and others injured. Crews cut holes in the trailer to get the trapped cattle out. Marshall said a veterinarian was there to treat the injured cows, but some may have to be killed. <br> <br> Six other cars were struck by flying debris or collided trying to avoid the wreck. Two people had minor injuries. <br> <br> All northbound lanes and most southbound lanes were shut down, backing up traffic on the busy interstate for miles in both directions.
