Man charged with child abandonment expected in court

ATLANTA - A man who police accuse of leaving his newborn baby in a parking lot is expected in court Friday. <br>

Eddie Stephens initially told authorities he found the baby girl abandoned in a downtown parking lot last month. Police say he is the father of the child. <br>
<br>
Stephens, 61, faces charges of child abandonment and making a false police report. <br>
<br>
A probable cause hearing has been scheduled Friday morning. <br>
<br>
The baby's mother - Jeanette Worrell - denies knowing what happened until hours later. She also has been charged with a misdemeanor. <br>
<br>
Stephens - who has worked at Franklin's Printing since 1975 - told police he found the baby in the company parking lot. He said he saw a pile of towels on a concrete ledge. <br>
<br>
The baby - named Selena Rena by her caseworker - is being cared for by a foster family.
