STARKVILLE, MISSISSIPPI - Police in Starkville, Mississippi, say tailback Nick Turner of Mississippi State has been charged with possession of counterfeit money.
The 18-year-old Turner of Atlanta turned himself in Monday. He was released the same day on $5,000 bond. The charge carries a maximum prison term of 15 years, a fine or both.
Turner was led away in handcuffs last Wednesday from Remington's Hunt Club after owner Bill Norris called the police. Authorities say $500 bills were passed in the club that night.
Turner has been questioned by police and U.S. Secret Service agents over the last week. Police say no more arrests are expected in the case.
The freshman was one of the Bulldogs' most highly touted signees last February and a former high school all-American.
Turner has rushed for 31 yards on eight carries this season and is averaging 11.5 yards on four punt returns. He has missed the last three games with a sprained ankle.
