Is It Time To Send This Senate Home For Good?

There comes a time when it seems fair to report I am totally disgusted with the United States Senate. The whole bunch of Senators have been in session for all this year and haven't done one dadblamed thing. The House of Representatives has done its job. They have submitted, studied, debated, modified and passed more than 60 pieces of major legislation. They have passed a budget for next year; homeland security; you name it. The House passed the Iraq War resolution, and in so doing forced the roadblock Senate to act. The House has done its job, and whether you agree with their votes or not, the fact is they have acted responsibly and sent their legislation on to the Senate for action. That's the way legislation in a democracy is supposed to work.

The President has nominated judges, as he is supposed to do under our constitution, and sent them to the Senate for their approval. Many have not even made it out of committee, and some highly qualified jurists have been turned down because they are not liberal activists. Judicial appointments are now so far behind a crisis is developing in our judicial system. It's a mess.

If this Senate cannot act responsibly, as the House is doing, then I think it is time we send ALL the Senators home ... Democrat and Republican alike ... and elect 100 new Senators to see if THEY can get the job done.

This is Gordon Sawyer, and may the wind always be at your back.
