CULLMAN, Ala. - Former Gov. Jim Folsom has denied rumors that he may make another run for governor this year.

Rumors circulated in Montgomery last week that Folsom may be considering challenging Gov. Don Siegelman for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination.

"I've heard those rumors also," Folsom said. "But they are not true."

Folsom, an investment broker in Cullman, said he would not rule out the possibility that he will eventually seek another political office.

"But that is not on the radar scope this year," Folsom said.

Folsom was lieutenant governor and became governor when former Gov. Guy Hunt was convicted in an ethics case. Folsom was defeated in the 1994 general election by Republican former Gov. Fob James.
