PENSACOLA, Fla. - Rescue crews searched Sunday for a missing Alabama man who was last seen boating with his family along an inland waterway.
A U.S. Coast Guard search and rescue boat and helicopter were trying to find 36-year-old Ken Ketterman, who was last seen aboard the rear of a rented 19-foot Carolina Skiff on Sunday morning near the Perdido Pass Bridge.
Ketterman, of Chicksaw, Ala., was out for a ride with his wife and young son, said Chad Saylor, a Coast Guard spokesman.
The Coast Guard suspended its search at 7 p.m. Sunday and was set to resume early Monday, Saylor said.
Saylor said that when Beth Ketterman noticed her husband missing, she flagged down a man on a nearby charter boat. The man, a retired Alabama Marine Police officer, called police.
Authorities were attempting to learn more about the circumstances leading up to Beth Ketterman's discovery that her husband was missing. Saylor said the man had given his wife his life jacket and had moved to the rear of the boat without a jacket. There were no reports of him yelling or his wife seeing him fall from the boat, he said.
"There's a lot of question marks right now," Saylor said.
Divers searched the waters near the bridge and local rescue crews dragged the water.
