Delta flight makes unscheduled landing in Portland

PORTLAND, OREGON - A Delta Air Lines flight from Japan to Atlanta made an emergency landing at Oregon's Portland International Airport Tuesday morning after reports of smoke in the cockpit. <br>

Port of Portland spokesman Steve Johnson says the plane was diverted to Portland and landed at about 8:40 a.m. <br>
<br>
Anthony Black, a Delta spokesman in Atlanta, says the captain decided to make an emergency landing after smelling what he called ``electronic smoke.'' The plane landed without incident and taxied on its own power to the gate. <br>
<br>
The plane, an MD-11, had 183 people on board. No injuries were reported.
