MARIANNA, Fla. - A high school student has received a five-year prison term for making a false bomb threat on Sept. 11 and 20 years of probation for four earlier threats.
Tyler Porter, 18, who pleaded no contest in November, was sentenced Tuesday. The maximum sentence he faced was 15 years for each count.
Law enforcement and emergency officials were called away from a statewide crisis meeting on Sept. 11 to respond to Porter's final threat.
"Real fear was felt that day at Marianna High School by everyone except one student. That one student was Tyler Porter," said Circuit Judge William L. Wright, who also recommended psychological evaluation and treatment.
