Henry County solicitor dismissed after indictment

McDONOUGH - Henry County Solicitor John Rutherford was suspended from office Wednesday, more than one month after a grand jury indicted him on bribery charges. <br> <br> A three-member commission decided December 27 to dismiss Rutherford until the charges are resolved. The commission included Attorney General Thurbert Baker, Cherokee County Solicitor-General Channing Ruskell and Muscogee County Solicitor-General Roxann Daniel. <br> <br> Rutherford was arrested in November on charges that he took bribes to fix DUI cases in State Court. <br> <br> District Attorney Tommy Floyd said Rutherford&#39;s arrest followed a two-month investigation by his office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The investigation was based on information from the chief judge of the State Court.
