Officials rescue animals from abandoned home

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. - More than a dozen dogs and cats were rescued Wednesday night and almost a dozen more escaped from a double-wide mobile home where they had been without water or heat for as up to weeks, authorities said. <br> <br> ``There were a good many animals in there, and some of them are in bad shape,&#39;&#39; Bartow County Deputy Kerry Millsap said. <br> <br> Authorities were called by a neighbor who told authorities that the people who lived there had left two weeks ago, and that no one had checked on the animals. <br> <br> In all, deputies and animal control officials removed 10 or 11 dogs, four cats and a ferret. In addition, eight to 10 more cats escaped through the door when it was first opened. <br> <br> Deputies and animal control personnel hurried to round up as many of the animals as possible and get them to the county&#39;s animal control facility. <br> <br> ``We&#39;ll give them water and food and check them out,&#39;&#39; said Reggie Nation of Bartow County Animal Control. <br>
