GAINESVILLE - For many it brought back all of the horror of September 11: images of a Florida flight student crashing his airplane into Tampa's Bank of America building over the weekend.

Gainesville flight instructor John Davis was among those shocked and disgusted by what happened.

Davis says he'll do things a bit differently because of the incident.

"I was discussing with another instructor this morning. I think that I will have better controls to the keys to the airplane."

Davis says Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport in Gainesville could beef up security. "The person who just walks into the airport needs to be deterred by a fence that we have a need for."

The airport's Fred Henry referred all security questions to the Federal Aviation Administration. The facility follows FAA policy, although the federal agency technically only regulates airports with scheduled daily flights.

The FAA does suggest guidelines for general aviation airports, like Lee Gilmer. FAA spokesman Christopher White says a new advisory after the Tampa tragedy will go out to airports in the next few days.

Meanwhile, Gainesville's airport, continues to follow the post September 11 FAA suggestions. The warnings basically suggest a watchful eye for anything out of the ordinary. If something unusual is detected, authorities should be notified immediately.

John Davis says he's not going to let terrorists or anyone else ground his flight lessons. Davis stresses the Tampa incident was a suicide mission and an isolated incident. "Some things you can't do anything to prevent."
