Express bus service between Augusta and Savannah to begin on Monday

AUGUSTA - Amtrak has announced it will begin express bus service Monday between Augusta and Savannah as part of the rail company's Thruway Service. <br>

The program will give travelers access to coordinated train and bus connections from Augusta to any city Amtrak serves. The Savannah train station is part of Amtrak's East Coast passenger rail route, which travels between New York and Miami. <br>
<br>
Mayor Bob Young says he's optimistic that existing bus service will improve Augusta's chances of bringing an Amtrak train directly into the city. <br>
<br>
There will be one daily departure from each city. The Savannah bus will leave at 7:25 a.m. and arrive in Augusta at 10:10 a.m. The Augusta bus will leave at 4:30 p.m. and arrive in Savannah at 7:10 p.m.
