ATLANTA - Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport and Delta Air Lines agreed today to create a task force, hoping to prevent the kinds of long delays caused by last week's cold and snow.
The first task is to review operational problems that stranded thousands of passengers flying through the nation's busiest airport.

The task force will issue its report February 15. It will be led by Hartsfield general manager Benjamin DeCosta and John Selvaggio, Delta's senior vice president of airport customer service.
Atlanta got nearly 5 inches of snow last Wednesday and Thursday. The storm virtually paralyzed airport traffic as planes waited to be de-iced. Arriving flights got stuck behind planes waiting to take-off.

Some passengers spent hours stuck on grounded planes, only to stranded at the airport when the flights were finally cancelled.
In a statement, Hartsfield and Delta officials called the delays unacceptable. Officials say they'll develop a plan so better and quicker decisions, so the same thing does NOT happen again the next time it snows heavily.
