GAINESVILLE - Members of the Hall County Board of Education discussed elementary school classroom additions and plans to change elementary attendance zones Monday night.

Dr. Dennis Fordham,Superintendent of Hall County Schools, announced that 18 bids were received to build an additional 10 classrooms at Lyman Hall Elementary School. The Board will likely accept the lowest bid which was from Charles Black Construction Company of Gainesville.

Fordham also announced that bidding will take place in the next few weeks for Sardis Elementary, Friendship Elementary, Spout Springs and Martin Elementary. These four schools will also need additional classroom space. After these additions, Fordham says "that should hold us for a while."

In other business, Fordham also announced that district lines for the new elementary school are being considered. An advisory committee is being set up to gather information and input for the district lines.

After he meets with the advisory committee, Fordham says that a public hearing will be held in order to inform parents, faculty and students.
