FLOWERY BRANCH - In a short first of the year meeting, FLowery Branch got two new council members and re-zoned 60 more acres.

The council members are Larry Pritchett and Lynn LeBlanc, sworn in at the beginning of
Tuesday night's special called meeting.

Council members re-affirmed appointed city officials for the new year and assigned committees for council members.

They approved the rezoning on second reading of 60 acres at the intersection of Jim Crow Road anmd McEver Road.

Mayor Gene Reed said his city's sewer service was drawing growth.

"90 plus percent of that is due to sewer," said the Mayor.

"One we got in today specifically asked for sewer service."

Flowery Branch's newest female council member said expect change in the way Council holds meetings.

Lyn LeBlanc said meetings will be more open and more convenient for the people.

"We moved the city work sessions to 5:30 p.m. so the citizens of FLowery Branch can come in and voice their opinions," said LeBlanc.

"They can comment where before they were unable to."

LeBlanc said the meetings were held at nine a.m. and were out of reach for most people because of their work schedules.

Council new comer Larry Pritchett said Tuesday night after he took his oath of office that he wanted to make council meetings more "user friendly."

He felt holding closed door meetings before the open public meeting was not efficient or convenient.

"My recomendation was that we would have these
executive sessions either at the end of the meeting or prior to starting the meeting," said Pritchett.
