Jefferson,Piedmont win in BB

It was a sweep for the Jefferson Dragons in make-up games with Commerce Wednesday night.<br> <br> Lee DuBose led the Lady Dragons (9-4, 3-1 8-A) in an 84-33 pasting of the Lady Tigers in Jefferson. Annie Goza scored 18, and became only the fifth girl in JHS history to go over 1,000 points in a career. Stacy Childress added 10 points for the Dragons while Stephanie Rainwater paced Commerce with 11.<br> <br> The Jefferson boys also won easily, 85-46. Jarvis Hayes led JHS with 19 with 17 points each coming from Dantonio Chandler and Shaudrick Martin.<br> <br> Tyson Randolph led the Tigers with 17.<br> <br> The games had been postponed due to the snowy weather from last Friday.<br> <br> Jefferson is slated to host Providence Christian Friday.<br> <br> On the college hardwood, Piedmont&#39;s men had to wait a day to get their sixth because of travel problems for Pensacola, Christian.<br> <br> The Lions (6-4) won 65-60 in Demorest Wednesday night.<br> <br> Caleb Baker led the Lions scoring with 17 points, going 6-for-9 from the floor, 4-for-7 from 3-point range. Freshman Tavarvess Ware out of East Hall went 5-of-8 from the field to score 11 for Piedmont, while Tremayne Pender was 5-of-10 to also chip in 11.<br> <br> East Hall alum Derrick Cheeks and North Hall grad Jacob Thome both played for Piedmont but did not score, although Thome did deal out five assists to lead the Lions in that category.<br> <br> Humble and Davis were the only Pensacola players in double figures with 18 and 13 respectively.<br> <br> Piedmont&#39;s game from Sunday at Maryville College in Tennessee also fell victim to the weather. It has been re-scheduled for January 21.<br>
