CLEVELAND - The hot issue of outlawing the practice of brown bagging is scheduled for a final vote by the White County Commission early next month.

The matter was set to be addressed by the commissioners a couple of months ago, but was tabled.

The resolution if approved would prohibit bringing your own bottle of alcoholic beverage to a restaurant in the unincorporated areas of the county.

Commissioners are getting it from both sides: hearing from those in favor of it on moral grounds, and, others who feel it would interfer with their individual rights.

White County commission chairman Chris Nonnemaker says he has questions about the legality and enforcement of such a ban.

Many people are asking that it be put to a public vote in a referendum.

Commissioners plans to vote on the issue February 5th.
