Erskine McKinnon represents Alabama A&M University in Huntsville.
He actively recruits students from North Georgia but tries to prepare them, especially those who choose college because of uncertainty from 9-11 last September.
"Youth has a tendency to come back to reality,"
said Mckinnon. "They realize they need an education to survive now."
McKinnon said colleges want students to prepare by working out financial aid in addition to keeping up their grades.
College Fair Coordinator Jim Millhouse said the fifth annual event was aimed at putting potential college students together with colleges.
Millhouse said representatives from 18 college represenetatives talked to students.
Gainesville High School Junior Akeeme Martin said he was very interested.
"The earlier you look at things,the sooner you know where you're going," said the sixteen year old Martin, who added that he's checking to financial resources including scholarships.
