FORT BENNING - About 600 people at Fort Benning are without a church this morning after a 55-year-old Catholic chapel burned down Saturday.

The white structure typically hosted three masses per weekend. The fire started because of an electrical failure.

The chapel seated 350 and hosted many on-base weddings. Masses have been moved to an infantry chapel and to the officers' supper club.

The incident remains under investigation by the post's internal Criminal Investigation Division.
