Savannahians scarf cookies to help Girl Scouts

SAVANNAH - It&#39;s that time of year again - Girl Scout cookies are on sale now. <br> <br> A group of Savannah volunteers signed on for a cookie-eating contest Saturday to help kick off the annual fund-raiser. <br> <br> Participants tried to eat as many cookies as they could in 60 seconds. Their only assistance came in the form of glasses of milk and water while the scarfed the shortbread cookies. <br> <br> Eight teams of four members took turns trying to swallow the cookies <br> <br> A women&#39;s volleyball team from Armstrong Atlantic State University downed 71 cookies in one minute. They easily spiked their competition - a group of guys from Hunter Army Airfield that could only swallow 66 cookies. <br> <br> The women later revealed their secret strategy that sealed the win - double-dunking cookies to soften them up.
