ATLANTA - Even after squandering a two-goal lead against the lowest-scoring team in the league, the Atlanta Thrashers found satisfaction in a tie.

Fredrik Modin scored a power-play goal with 12 minutes remaining in the third period to rally the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 2-2 tie with the Atlanta Thrashers on Sunday night.

The Thrashers, who had their two-game winning streak snapped, extended their home unbeaten streak to a franchise-record three games.

Atlanta dominated play in overtime, but failed to convert several scoring chances.

``We had a couple of good chances in the overtime, but we couldn't buy one,'' goaltender Milan Hnilicka said. ``A tie is, I guess I shouldn't say OK, especially when we were up 2-0, but we've got to be happy with the tie.''

Tampa Bay, which has an NHL-low 84 goals, snapped its two-game losing streak. The Lightning have one win in their last nine games.

``Any time you can get a point, it's important,'' Modin said. ``We've been playing some good hockey, we just haven't been able to get the puck in the net. We can't buy that extra one.''

Atlanta defenseman Yannick Tremblay failed to convert a scoring chance with two minutes left in overtime. After taking a pass from Ilya Kovalchuk, Trembley fanned on a shot from 4 feet.

The Thrashers scored two goals early in the second period.

Forward Patrik Stefan controlled a loose puck in the slot, skated around one defender, and flipped a shot over the left shoulder of Nikolai Kabibulin, who appeared to tip the shot with his glove with 15:44 left in the period.

Kovalchuk made it 2-0 with 13:53 left in the second when he one-timed a shot past Kabibulin for his 21st goal of the season and fifth in the last six games.

Dave Andreychuk scored with 5:29 remaining in the second period as the Lightning closed with 2-1. The goal was Andreychuk's eighth of the season.

The Lightning outshot the Thrashers 18-10 in the second period, but Hnilicka made a number of diving stops to preserve the lead.

Modin's goal was his 13th of the season.
Notes: Tampa Bay has 18 points on the road, two points short of last season's total. ... Nine of Atlanta's last 10 games have been decided by one goal or ended in a tie. ... The Lightning, who entered the game allowing the fewest goals of any team in the league (94), now trail Colorado (95).
