Lottery turns over $180.6 million for education

ATLANTA - The Georgia Lottery Corp. has turned over $180.6 million to the state treasury to be spent on education, the third largest quarterly ansfer since the lottery began in 1993. <br> <br> ``The Georgia lottery is experiencing strong sales this fiscal year,&#39;&#39; lottery President Rebecca Paul said Tuesday. She noted that education benefits for each dollar raised. <br> <br> The lottery has returned more than $4.9 billion for educational programs including HOPE scholarships, pre-kindergarten and technological and capital upgrades for schools and libraries. <br> <br> The highest quarterly transfer was $223 million on July 15, 2000. One year later, the amount was $192 million.
