Ole Miss lineman charged with sexual battery

OXFORD, Miss. - Mississippi defensive tackle Brandon Roddy is facing sexual battery charges and has been indefinitely suspended from the team. <br>

Roddy, a junior from Peoria, Ill., was arrested Saturday by Oxford police and held over the holiday weekend at the Lafayette County Detention Center. He was released Tuesday on $20,000 bond. <br>
<br>
"The officers were met by the victim who stated she had been sexually assaulted," Assistant Police Chief Mike Martin said. "Based upon a sworn affidavit by the victim, the suspect was arrested and charged with one count of sexual battery." <br>
<br>
Roddy could face 30 years in prison. No court date has been set. <br>
<br>
"Brandon Roddy has been suspended indefinitely from the Ole Miss football team pending further investigation of these charges," coach David Cutcliffe said. <br>
<br>
Roddy played in five games for Rebels last season and made seven tackles. <br>
