Media liaison for Georgia Supreme Court dies at 81

ATLANTA - Charles Edwin Webb, the first public information officer for the state&#39;s Supreme Court, has died. He was 81. <br> <br> Webb died of a suspected stroke or aneurysm Sunday at an assisted living home in Cape Coral, Fla. He worked for the Georgia Supreme Court from 1977-1992. <br> <br> The former United Press reporter understood court matters, retired Supreme Court Chief Justice Harold Clarke said. Chief Justice Norman Fletcher agreed, noting that ``his work is still being used today as part of the Supreme Court&#39;s media rules.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Webb moved to Lilburn in 1963 after suffering a heart attack. He earned a degree from Woodrow Wilson Law School, and by 1973 he was appointed part-time judge for the Magistrate Court. He also served as DeKalb County&#39;s chief magistrate and Recorder&#39;s Court judge. <br> <br> Webb moved to Florida in November. <br> <br> Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman, Texas. Plans for a memorial service in Atlanta will be announced later. <br> <br> Survivors include his son, Michael Webb of Lawrenceville; daughter, Linda K. Webb Nash of Cape Coral; five grandsons and a great-granddaughter.
