Savannah man indicted in acquaintance's homicide

SAVANNAH - A Chatham County grand jury indicted a Savannah man Wednesday in the November murder of a man he allegedly knew and took his bike. <br> <br> Brian J. Ivey, 32, is charged with killing Anthony Bennett, 39, between Oct. 19-20. Bennett&#39;s body was found Nov. 7 in the grass off Islands Expressway near the Frank Spencer Boat Ramp by a work crew. <br> <br> Bennett was killed by stab wounds and a blow to the head, police said. He was last seen Oct. 19 leaving his Strathmore Estates home on Crescent Drive on his bicycle. Bennett had worked at Johnny Harris Restaurant, police said. <br> <br> Ivey is also charged with concealing the death of another person and theft of Bennett&#39;s bicycle. <br> <br> Police did not discuss a motive in the slaying but they have said the two men were long-time acquaintances and had been to each other&#39;s homes.
