At Centennial Elementary school Principal Dr.Shirley Whitaker says she does not believe how fast the school has grown in ten years.
"This is our 10th year at Centennial and we have added 22 classes," said Dr. Whitaker.
Whitaker said there are already 676 students at the school with 450 students coming over from Enota Elementary School next year.
That adds up to just over 800 students in a school designed to hold 550.
Dr. Whitaker said its a temporary sitution lasting only a year until new schools are built.
At Gainesville Middle School Principal Robert Thorpe wants lap top computers for his students.
He told the tour group, including local news media, that he has around eight students for every available desk top unit.
Lap tops would enable every student to have a computer at his or her disposal.
Gainesville Schools has launched the "Generation Lap Top" program, aimed at funding and providing the lap tops for sixth graders and eventually all middle school students.
"This is the time that students really need to get that so that when they get into high school they can just soar', said Thorpe.
Grants Coordinator Christine Brosky said it will take an estimated half million dollars to provide sixth graders with lap tops.
