BRUNSWICK - A high-ranking officer with the state Board of Pardons and Parole has been suspended following her arrest last month on a shoplifting charge. <br>

Diana Person, second-in-command of the Brunswick regional office, was charged with one count of felony theft by shoplifting Dec. 26 at Oglethorpe Mall, Bucky Burnsed, spokesman for the Savannah Police Department said Wednesday. <br>

Person, 51, of St. Simons Island, was charged with stealing merchandise worth $477 from Sears, said authorities. She was released from the Chatham County Jail after posting $2,000 bail. <br>
<br>
No court date has been set. Felony shoplifting is punishable by one to 10 years in prison. <br>
<br>
Person, a 13-year parole board veteran, was suspended with pay Dec. 27 after parole board officials learned of her arrest, said Kathy Browning, parole board spokeswoman. <br>
<br>
The board has the authority to impose disciplinary action ranging from a reprimand to termination.
