For the second year, Gainesville residents congregated downtown Saturday for the Women’s March, a nationwide movement for the empowerment of women.

Gainesville residents told the city’s Parks and Recreation Department at Thursday’s public input meeting they want to see more biking trails, greenspace and connectivity in the city.

The large, steel chicken atop Main Street Gainesville on the downtown Gainesville Square was illuminated Thursday night, signifying the start of the Gainesville's holiday season and the finale of Jingle Mingle.
