Gwinnett man arrested on multiple drug charges

By AccessWDUN staff

A joint human trafficking and drug investigation that began in Troup County has led to several drug trafficking charges against a Gwinnett County man.

Andrew Jones, 34, was arrested following a search of his home. He was charged with trafficking heroin and fentanyl and possessions of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The investigation was begun by the Troup County Sheriff's Department in west Georgia. That agency told the Gwinnett Metro Task Force that it has information that Jones gave fentanyl to several women in exchange for sexual favors or cash. The task force then asked the GBI and Homeland Security to assist with the investigation.

During a search of Jones' house last week, officials found about 90 grams of suspected marijuana, 50 grams of suspected fentanyl, trafficking amounts of suspected methamphetamine, five firearms, and other drugs and drug paraphernalia. Investigators also discovered hundreds of syringes throughout the house and a make-shift lab in the garage where Jones was manufacturing fentanyl pills.

No human trafficking charges have been filed at this time. Jones remains in the Gwinnett County Jail.
