Toccoa woman injured after jumping from moving EMS vehicle

A woman from Toccoa was seriously injured Saturday night after she jumped from a moving EMS vehicle.

According to a report from the Georgia State Patrol, Amber Chambers, 40, was being transported via a marked Stephens County EMS vehicle to Stephens County Hospital around 8 p.m. for non-emergency treatment. The 2018 Chevrolet Silverado was on State Route 184 near Short Street in Toccoa when Chambers suddenly jumped from her seat and out the back doors of the vehicle. The vehicle was moving at roughly 35 MPH at the time.

Chambers landed on the pavement and suffered visible ankle and head injuries. She was treated at the scene and airlifted to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for her injuries.

As of this report, Chambers remains in the Intensive Care Unit. No one was charged in the incident.
