Hall County Tax Commissioner's Office launches “Skip the Line” campaign

By Lauren Hunter Multimedia Journalist

The Hall County Tax Commissioner’s Office has launched a campaign that encourages local taxpayers to “save a trip” and “skip the line” for tax-related transactions.

The campaign reminds taxpayers that they have several avenues to pay taxes and access other services, which include online at [email protected], putting a check in the mail or an onsite dropbox, or calling the tax office.

“In this ongoing COVID environment, many businesses have adopted contactless procedures for safety reasons,” said Hall County Tax Commissioner Darla Eden in a press statement. “We’ve taken the same approach but for reasons that are more about providing easier and greater access.”

Some online services include payment for property and mobile home taxes, tag renewals and vehicle tag cancellation.

Community members can also renew a vehicle tag and receive the decal instantly at one of two self-service kiosks. One kiosk is located at the New Holland Market Kroger on Jesse Jewell Highway; the other kiosk is at the Clearwater Crossing Kroger on Spout Springs Road in Flowery Branch.

Eden said one of the only reasons someone may need to come to the Tax Commissioner’s Office in person is to title a vehicle because it requires in-person verification with a signed original document.

“We still enjoy helping our tax customers in person,” Eden said. “But I hope they will appreciate our ongoing efforts to be ever more efficient and reducing the stress of paying taxes. With everyone so much busier these days, who wouldn’t want to skip the line?”

Taxpayers can expect to see messaging about the “Skip the Line” campaign this fall on social media, signage, mail and other advertising. The Tax Commissioner’s Office worked with local advertising agency Morton Vardeman and Carlson to develop the campaign.

Anyone with questions can contact the tax office at 770-531-6950 or [email protected]. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. with appointments preferred.
