A store clerk suffered a non-life-threatening injury during an armed robbery at a Rabun Gap area business Monday afternoon.
Rabun County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary in progress call at Don’s Exxon on U.S. 441 North about 4:30 p.m. Monday, but the call turned out to be something else.
“It was an armed robbery with the suspect being armed with a knife,” said Rabun County Chief Deputy Scott Cheek. “The worker was cut, leaving a small laceration to the hand.”
That business employee was evaluated by medical personnel and later self-transported to the hospital for additional evaluation, Cheek said.
The suspect fled the scene headed north. No further details about that individual have been released.
Officers from Mountain City Police Department and Dillard Police Department responded with deputies to the call.
Officers said the robbery appeared to be an isolated incident.
