A family pet died in a Banks County camper fire Wednesday.
Banks County Fire/EMS personnel were dispatched to a structure fire at 1087 Henderson Road, Gillsville, just after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday..
"Upon arrival, units found a camper that was being utilized as a camper fully involved with fire," said Banks County Fire/EMS Chief Steve Nichols. "No occupants were home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. One animal did succumb to the heat from the fire."
Nichols said the home was a total loss. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
