A man suffered minor injuries when he tried to rescue his pets from a burning home in Dawson County Monday morning.
Robby Lee, Division Chief for Dawson County Fire and Emergency Services said crews were called to the home on Taylor Stowers Road just before 10 a.m. .
The three occupants of the home were asleep when the fire started but they were able to escape and run to a neighbor's house for help.
"The fire had a pretty good head start," Lee said. "They were barely able to get out, but luckily they did."
The man who was injured apparently tried to get his dogs out of the burning home; one of the animals survived, but three died.
The Dawson County Fire Marshal is investigating to determine the cause of the fire.
