Eighth case of rabies confirmed in Hall County for 2021

Hall County officials confirm two dogs recently came in contact with a rabid raccoon in Northwest Hall County.

The incident happened in the 6000 block of Wind Jammer Way. Positive alert signs have been posted in the area.

The raccoon was taken to the Georgia Public Health Lab in Decatur and officials got word it was positive for the disease on Tuesday.

This is the eighth confirmed case of rabies in the county for 2021.

Anyone who sees an animal acting abnormally in the area is urged to contact Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830, or dispatch at 770-536-8812 during non-working hours.

Pet owners are encouraged to vaccinate their pets against rabies. Vaccines are available by appointment for $10 at the Hall County Animal Shelter. Make an appointment by calling 678-450-1587.
