I miss those TV commercials that used to air in the middle of the night. And come on, admit it. You do, too.

Nowadays when I can't sleep and I turn on the TV, I watch Netflix or Hulu or some other service that doesn't have commercials.

But back in the day though, you'd turn on the TV, and there they were. Commercials for the Pocket Fisherman. For the Ginzu knives that would cut through a beer can, because, of course, not a day passed when you didn't need to cut a beer can in half. And my favorite, for the spray-on hair. (For the record, although I am follicularly challenged, I never bought this. But I did laugh at the commercials.)

One of the best of the bunch, though, was the guy who came out and tried to sell you on the idea of pre-planning your own funeral. As I recall, he was perfectly cast. He looked like he had been embalmed himself, with his pasty white skin and slicked back, jet-black hair.
