Softball: Chestatee stages big rally; Monday roundup

GAINESVILLE — Lacie James stroked a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the seventh to give Chestatee a thrilling 10-9 win over Fannin County on Monday at Talon Field.

James' hit capped a wild comeback for the Lady War Eagles, who trailed 7-2 in the fourth inning. Chestatee plated three runs in the fourth and then followed with a five-run fifth.

In the fifth, Chestatee scored on an error, a RBI groundout by Morgan Hunt, and then RBI hits from Madysen Gibbs and Brook Bachlelier to take a 9-8 lead. Fannin County tied the game at 9 in the sixth setting the stage for the walk-off win.

Hunt earned the win for Chestatee surrendering four runs on four hits in four innings while striking out two.


WHITE COUNTY 4,
DAWSON COUNTY 1

White County took a Region 7-3A on the road win on Monday.

The Lady Warriors scored two runs in the first to get things going quickly and added two more in the fourth to push their lead to 4-0. Dawson County scratched back for a run in the sixth but could get no closer.

Lianna O’Kelly earned the win in the circle for White County scattering three hits and a run over 5 1/3 innings while striking out eight.

Reese Moore took the loss for Dawson County giving up four runs on five hits in four innings and fanning four. Layne Bailey pitched the final three innings out of the bullpen for the Lady Tigers.

Olivia Martinez, Bella Henson, and Brea Crane all had one hit for the Lady Tigers.


UNION COUNTY 11,
LUMPKIN COUNTY 1

The Lady Panthers scored in all but one inning in taking a non-region win on the road.
 
Union County opened the game with a two-RBI single from Trinity Queen for a quick 2-0 lead. The Lady Panthers scored once in the second, fourth, and fifth innings, twice in the sixth, and put it out of reach with a four-run seventh.
 
Queen finished with two hits and two RBI and Hannah Patton added two hits in a 12-hit Lady Panthers' attack. Emily Byers, Caley Davis, and Tori Tracy all had big RBI hits in the seventh for Union County.
 
Sierra Burnette got the win for Union County giving up just one run on three hits in 6 2/3 innings. Burnette fanned seven and walked none. Byers got the final out in relief for the Lady Panthers.
 
Natalie Shubert got the loss for Lumpkin County allowing 11 runs on 12 hits and striking out two while going the distance.
 

NORTH HALL 15,
CHEROKEE BLUFF 3

Sam Rooker belted a grand slam and added another RBI to lead North Hall to a Region 7-3A win.

The Lady Trojans blew open a close game with five runs each in the fourth and fifth innings.

Bre Stowers earned the victory in the circle for Noth Hall allowing four hits and three runs while striking out two and walking one in five innings.

Clarissa McDaniel took the loss for the Lady Bears allowing nine hits and 10 runs while striking out two in four innings.

North Hall racked up 12 with Rooker, Caroline Cape, and Kristina Peach all with multiple hits.

North Hall is back in action on Tuesday taking on Lumpkin County in a Region 7-3A battle.
