Missing rafters located in White County

Two females reported missing overnight on the Chattahoochee River have been located in White County.

"At approximately [2:44 a.m.], Habersham County 9-1-1 received a call reporting a person possibly lost on the Chattahoochee River near the White County line on Ga. 115," said Habersham County Emergency Services Director Chad Black. “Units responded, along with White County Fire, and upon arrival were made aware that two females had been on the water earlier, possibly rafting, and had not returned to their vehicle.”

About 7:15 a.m., Black reported the missing females had just been located in White County and were being taken back to the incident command post.

“Initial reports are they may have become lost and slept in a field overnight but both appear to be ok,” Black said.

Units from Habersham Emergency Services and White County Fire were assisted by Lee Arrendale State Prison Fire Department and Georgia State Patrol Aviation.

No further details are immediately available.
