The newly constructed Flowery Branch Road bridge over Interstate 85 will open to traffic Friday evening, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced.
The bridge was closed for 165 days for construction of the new bridge and a detour was in place for motorists. The bridge replacement modernized the Flowery Branch Road Bridge as the previous bridge was over 50 years old.
The bridge replacement is part of the first phase of an I-85 widening project, which is nearly completion. The project should be complete sometime in the third quarter of 2020.
