The suspect in a double homicide in Social Circle last month has been charged with murder.

Tommy Charles Webb, Jr., age 19 of Athens, Georgia, was charged this week with the shooting death of James Robert Evans, age 27 and Jaymie Whitlock, age 32. Webb was being held in the Clarke County jail for parole/probation violation.

Information from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation states that in the early morning of May 15th, Social Circle Police Officers responded to a call of two bodies found on the side of Thurman Baccus Road.

Upon arriving, officers discovered the bodies of Evans and Whitlock with apparent gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a previous statement from GBI spokesperson Nelly Miles, Evans had previous ties to the Hoschton area and Whitlock “may have had connections to Gainesville at one point.”

The investigation is still active.
