Toddler injured in Gainesville pedestrian accident dies

The toddler involved in a pedestrian accident Saturday afternoon in Gainesville has died, according to police.
 
Gainesville Police released an update Sunday shortly afternoon, stating Nazareth Alarcon succumbed to her injuries after being taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in critical condition. She was nearly two years old.
 
Alarcon was struck by a moving Chevrolet Silverado in the driveway of a private residences in the 700 block of Auburn Avenue. Police said it appears to be accidental. Traffic investigators with Gainesville Police are investigating.
 
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during these tragic and trying times," said Police Chief Jay Parrish on Sunday. "We cannot begin to imagine what the family is going through, however we will be here to support them in anyway we can.”
