As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, state of Georgia and faith leaders are coming together to ease some anxiety by holding a Day of Prayer service on Monday, April 27th in the rotunda of the state capital.

A news release from the Governor’s Office states Governor Brian Kemp will attend the service and be joined by Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan and Speaker David Ralston, along with faith leaders from across the state. The service will begin at 10 a.m.

While the service will be closed to the general public because of the pandemic, Governor Kemp and other service attendees encourage Georgians to tune into the live stream on the Governor’s Facebook page.

Georgia residents can also participate in the service by posting videos of their prayers on social media throughout the day.

"While we cannot all be together right now, we can join with one another in prayer for our frontline healthcare workers, first responders, law enforcement, business owners, local leaders, and fellow Georgians as we continue the important work of fighting COVID-19 and safely reopening our state,” said Governor Kemp. “On Monday, I am calling on all Georgians to participate in our Day of Prayer by posting on social media and showing their support for their fellow citizens."

“In the midst of tremendous loss, uncertainty, and anxiety, I look forward to joining together in prayer,” said Lt. Governor Duncan. “Faith and prayer are a comfort to millions of Georgians, and whatever your background, I hope Monday will be a chance for us to focus on those who are hurting and seek wisdom for the hard road ahead."

“In such trying times, it is appropriate that we come together to pray for those battling this disease and its impact as well as those who have tragically lost loved ones,” said Speaker Ralston. “I join with Governor Kemp, Lt. Governor Duncan, and all Georgians in praying for the mercy and comfort of our Lord as we look forward to brighter days ahead.”
