Dawson County helps high risk patients get medications and avoid going out in public

COVID-19 has most everyone staying home and reports continue to urge citizens to avoid going out if at all possible. The question, though, is how do we manage some of those essential things that require us to go out? For those at high-risk, this can be especially daunting.

Dawson County has found a small way to answer that question. The Dawson County Fire and Emergency Services, along with the Dawson County Parks and Recreation has announced a program that will assist high-risk patients with getting their prescriptions. They will be working with area pharmacies to get those filled and delivered. Someone from Fire and Emergency Services or the Parks and Recreation will be delivering medications to those in need around the county.

Starting today, prescriptions will be delivered Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5p.m.

“This allows our identified high risk community members to stay home stay secure yet still get their medications,” says Danny Thompson, Fire Chief and EMA Director.

High-risk patients include the elderly, those with lowered immune systems and those with serious underlying medical conditions.

If you, or someone you know, could benefit from this service, there are multiple ways to sign up. You can email [email protected], call 706.344.3646 or go to dawsoncounty.org, click on the COVID19 link and fill out the form.
