An arrest warrant has been issued for a 54-year-old Atlanta man who Gainesville police say robbed a BB&T branch Tuesday on Jesse Jewell Parkway.

Anderson Dixon is wanted on charges of armed robbery and making terroristic threats, according to a news release from the Gainesville Police Department. Dixon is not in custody, and police want the public’s help in locating him.

“We want to thank our community, FBI, GBI, Hall County Probation and Hall County Sheriff’s Office for their roles in providing vital information during the course of the investigation,” Chief Jay Parrish said. “How the bank employees responded while in fear for their lives should also be commended. We are fortunate no one was physically hurt during this incident, but we must continue to show those involved our support as we move forward.”

The investigation revealed that Dixon entered the BB&T in the 400 block of Jesse Jewell Parkway through the main lobby at about 10:15 a.m. and walked up to a teller. He handed the teller a note that demanded money to handed over or the teller would be shot. The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of money, and Dixon fled the business heading southbound on foot.

Police released a surveillance photo and description of the suspect, prompting community assistance in the identification of the suspect.

Police ask anyone with information on Dixon’s whereabouts to call 770-534-5251.
