Head-on wreck north of Clayton injures 3, results in DUI charges

Less than 20 hours after a fatal wreck in the same location north of Clayton, three people were injured in a second head-on wreck.

The second wreck happened at 3:30 a.m. Sunday on Ga. 15/U.S. 441 near Clayburn Street just north of the Clayton city limits.

A blue 2015 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck driven by Christian Blas Delgado, 40, of Atlanta was traveling south on Ga. 15/U.S. 441 negotiating a curve, failed to maintain its lane and crossed the centerline, said Cpl. John Getty of Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa.

Blas Delgado’s truck collided head-on with a black 2013 Nissan Altima driven by Don Cobb, 31, of Stockbridge.

Blas Delgado was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of injuries to his back, Getty said.

Cobb was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of a broken leg, Getty said.

Cobb’s passenger, Brittany Chandler, 31, of Stockbridge, was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of a broken leg, Getty said.

Blas Delgado is charged with driving under the influence and other traffic violations, Getty said.

The Troop B Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting GSP Post 7 with the investigation.

About 7:40 a.m. Saturday, emergency personnel responded to a head-on collision at the same location. That wreck resulted in a fatality and two minor injuries.
