Banks County wreck seriously injures Homer motorcyclist

A Homer man was seriously injured when his motorcycle went out of control on Ga. 15/U.S. 441 near Homer Monday night.

Brian McDaniel, 28, was traveling north on Ga. 15/U.S. 441 when he lost control of the motorcycle about 7:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, said Cpl. Joshua Hedden of Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville.

While negotiating a curve, McDaniel lost control and the motorcycle struck a concrete barrier on the west shoulder of Ga. 15 with its left side, according to Hedden. The motorcycle then traveled across all lanes of Ga. 15 northbound to the east shoulder of the highway and struck a guardrail with its right side.

After striking the guardrail, the motorcycle crossed the median into the southbound lanes of Ga. 15 and struck another concrete barrier, Hedden said. The motorcycle then overturned numerous times and struck another guardrail on the east side of the southbound lanes of Ga. 15 before coming to rest in left lane facing east.

The motorcycle caught fire and the make and model could not be located due to the damage, Hedden said.

The wreck was located south of Thompson Street in Homer.
